The OKC Storm will be celebrating our 10 th Anniversary during the 2007-2008 season. During our first nine years, we have been the most prolific team in homeschool basketball history, winning 30 plus Gold Ball National Championships. To put that achievement in perspective, all other homeschool basketball teams in the state have less than 7 Gold Ball National Championships among them. We are going to have some very special celebrations during this season. We hope that you will be part of them with us. The first will be our “Meet the Storm Night” in early November – date TBA soon. That night we will introduce the 2007-2008 teams, unveil the latest National Championship banner and recognize special achievements.

VERY IMPORTANT – if after you read all the information below you would like to participate on a Storm team (or at least come to tryouts and check it out), it would help us tremendously if you would fill out the player registration form and mail it in right away. The form is on the website www.stormhoops.com. At this point, it appears that this year will be a year of unprecedented growth for the Storm and we need to make sure we have enough coaches and practice courts. PLEASE read the whole letter.

Here are some key facts:

1)       10U, 12U and 14U (JH) and Storm North (which will be our 2 nd boys varsity team) will practice at the           Lighthouse Sports Complex, located at the NE corner of Lake Hefner Parkway and Hefner Road.
2)       The JV and Varsity will practice at St Elijah’s located at May and NW 150 th.
3)       Home gym for Junior High and Varsity will be St Elijah’s.
4)       Tryouts – it has been the Storm policy that tryouts are designed to help determine which team a player plays           on, we do not cut players.
5)       All Practices/Tryouts will start the first week of October, the 1 st-4 th.
6)       Since the Storm plays against mostly OSSAA schools we are an age pure program based on OSSAA           requirements for grades. A Player’s grade is determined by the player’s age as of September 1, 2007.

Fundraising

This year the Storm is implementing a new fundraising program. This program is multi- faceted. This is a program that will not only help the Storm upgrade many of the services that are offered, while reducing the net cost for all players, but it also permits motivated players and teams within the Storm program to benefit directly from their efforts. Here is how it works:

1)       Every player is required to sell $100 in add space. This $100 is deducted directly from the player’s team fee.
2)       All additional ad space sold directly benefits the player and the team they play for. For example:
     A.     For each additional $100 in ad space sold by a player $50 is deducted from the player’s fee and the other              $50 goes into an account for their team.
     B.      A player very easily could sell enough ad space to cover their entire fee.
     C.     The team money is used for rewards, program printing, purchasing uniforms, practice jerseys and warm              ups.
3)      There are four levels of rewards that each player may obtain:
     A.      Level 1 -- $500 Ad Sales – Free Family Pass for all Storm Home Games
     B.      Level 2 -- $750 Ad Sales – Free Evolution Basketball (10U, 12U, 14U)
     C.      Level 3 -- $1,000 Ad Sales – Top earners banner --Free Evolution Basketball (16U, 18U)

Overall Top Earners will receive a special reward

The form for selling ad space is on the Storm web site, www.stormhoops.com. This fundraising program is very easy for anyone to sell if they simply apply themselves. The program was recently made available to the varsity players and already several players have sold ads, and one family told me they spent 2 hours of time and have almost $2,000 in ad space sold. This qualified both of their kids for the top level rewards and completely covered all of their basketball fees for the year.

Sincerely,

Tim Flatt
Athletic Director
